How to Obtain a Residence Permit in Senegal

To obtain a Residency Permit for Senegal, a U.S. citizen should go to the following office in the Senegalese Ministry of Interior:

Police des Etrangers (Foreigner's Police)
Allées Ababacar Sy
Près du Commissariat de Police de Dieuppeul.
Tel: 869-3001

You will need the following documents:

  • A letter to the Minister of Interior requesting a long-term visa for Senegal
  • A photocopy of your U.S. passport 
  • An attestation tenant lieu de bulletin de naissance
  • An extrait de casier judiciaire
  • A medical certificate
  • A fee of 75.000 CFA
  • CFA 15.200 for fiscal stamps
  • Three photos

The Consular Section will notarize your attestation tenant lieu de bulletin de naissance and extrait de casier judiciaire during the routine hours for American Citizen Services. The fee is $30 for the first signature and $20 for each additional signature. Fees must be paid in cash dollars or the equivalent in CFA.
