How to Obtain a Residence Permit in Senegal

To obtain a Residency Permit for Senegal, a U.S. citizen should go to:

Prés du Commissariat de Police de Dieuppeul.

You will need the following documents:

• A letter to the Minister of Interior requesting a long-term visa for Senegal
• A photocopy of your U.S. passport 
• An “attestation tenant lieu de bulletin de naissance”*
• An “extrait de casier judiciaire”*
• A medical certificate
• A fee of 150000 CFA
• Three photos

    * These two documents can be obtained at the American Embassy Consular Section for a $50 fee or the equivalent in CFA.

The residency card is only valid for 5 years and can be renewed at the Police des Etrangers.

 To renew this card, a U.S. Citizen should provide the following documents:

• A letter to the Ministry of Interior requesting a long-term visa for Senegal
• A photocopy of your U.S. passport
• An attestation tenant lieu de bulletin de naissance-from the embassy
• An extrait de casier judiciare- from the Senegalese Tribunal
• A medical certificate
• A  fee of 15200 CFA for fiscal stamps
• Proof that you live/work in Senegal

Consular Section Hours
The Consular Section is open for routine American citizen services on Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  The Consular Section is open to assist American citizens with an emergency on Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  The Consular Section is closed on all U.S. federal and Senegalese holidays.
