NON-IMMIGRANT VISAS
Diplomatic and Official Visas
The U.S. Consular Section accepts applications for A and G visas without an appointment on Monday through Thursday from 14:00 to 16:00. For urgent A or G visa applications outside of these hours, please send a FAX to the Consular Section at 33-822-5903 or an email to consulardakar@state.gov, and our staff will contact you to schedule a time to submit the visa application.
For diplomats accredited to Senegal seeking a visa for non-official travel, please click here for more information.
In order to ensure timely issuance of A and G visas, applications should be submitted only by the Ministry or organization's office of protocol or the administrative office in charge of visas. Please do not submit the application yourself. In order to be eligible for an A or G visa, you must be traveling on official government business and be either a government official or an official staff member of an international organization. For a list of government agencies and international organizations eligible for A and G visas, please click on the link to the right.
If you are applying for an A or G visa, you must complete an Electronic Visa Application Form (EVAF) in http://evisaforms.state.gov. We cannot accept handwritten applications. Please print your application and include the bar code on page 3. You must also sign the application (an original signature - faxed signatures are not accepted) and attach a 50mm x 50mm photograph taken within the last six months with a white background.
If you are a Senegalese government official, you must also include the following items in your visa application:
- Note Verbale from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) stating that you are traveling to the U.S. on official government business.
- Ordre de Mission detailing the exact nature and dates of your official travel to the U.S. Your Ordre de Mission must be signed by the Secretary General of the Government of Senegal. If your Ministry is financing your travel and your Ordre de Mission does not have to include the Secretary General's signature, your Note Verbale must state that your ministry is funding the travel and be signed by the MFA Cabinet Director or Secretary General.
If you are applying for a G-4 visa, the transportation office in the headquarters of your international organization must send an official fax directly to the consular section confirming the official request for a G-4 visa.
A and G visas will be available the day after your visa application is submitted. If must travel urgently to the U.S., we will try to but cannot guarantee issuance on the same day your visa application is submitted. From time-to-time, an A or G visa application requires additional administrative processing. Unfortunately, we cannot waive this requirement and processing can take up to one month. As a result, we encourage you to submit your visa application as soon as possible.
If you would like to bring a personal employee to the U.S. while you are in the U.S. on A or G status, please click on the personal employee link to the right.
The following visa applicants are not eligible for A or G visas, and therefore must schedule an appointment for an interview with a U.S. consular officer:

- Individuals traveling on an official government delegation to the U.S. who are not government employees.
- Journalists traveling on an official government delegation.
- Holders of official and diplomatic passports who are not government employees traveling on official government business.
