U.S. Military Cooperation: New Children’s Nutrition Center in Tattaguine

U.S. Ambassador Marcia S. Bernicat inaugurates a children’s nutrition center in Tattaguine
On Tuesday, December 16, U.S. Ambassador Marcia S. Bernicat inaugurated a children’s nutrition center in Tattaguine, located in the region of Fatick.

The construction of this new nutrition center, at a cost of $116,500 (52,812,640 CFA), was fully funded by the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) humanitarian assistance program.  The center was equipped with medical supplies, furniture and a generator valued at $12,200 (5,500,000 CFA) by the U.S. Department of Defense.  The nutrition center will aim to reduce the rate of disease among children related to malnutrition. It will ensure better nutrition for children from Tattaguine and the surrounding villages.

During her visit to the region of Fatick, Ms. Bernicat also inaugurated a health center in Nema Ba, Toubacouta (Department of Foundiougne), financed by AFRICOM in the amount of $160,100 (72,677,440 CFA).
