Eligibility Review Unit
If you applied for a visa, passport or consular report of birth abroad and the consular officer was unable to establish your eligibility at the time of your initial interview, the consular officer will refer your application to the consular section's Eligibility Review Unit. We will contact you if we need additional information or if we need to conduct an additional interview. Each case is very different and the length of time it takes to complete an eligibility review can vary greatly. Also, cases are reviewed on a first come, first served basis. As a result, we cannot predict how long any specific review will take. Until we have completed this review, we cannot move forward with your application.
If you would like to check on the status of your review, please email consulardakar@state.gov. Please put for Eligibility Review Unit on the subject line of your email and include your case number (if you have one), your full name and your date of birth.
We do not accept inquiries about cases under review by phone.
